“Get notified of new Gmail via Growl alerts”
If you're not satisfied by the customization capabilities in Google Notifier, then Gmail+Growl is the perfect solution.
As the name suggests, Gmail+Growl works with Gmail Notifier and uses Growl alerts to notify you of new Gmail. Since it works it conjunction with Google Notifier, it only supports single accounts but the great thing about using Growl is that you can customize the alerts to look and sound pretty much as you like. This gives you far more control than Google Notifier offers.
Your imagination is limited only by the customization options offered by the Growl preference pane in System Preferences. The only thing that would have been nice is for Gmail+Growl to have displayed a snippet of the message in the Growl alert. As it is, you can only see the name of the sender and the subject heading of the mail. Clicking on it takes you straight to the message though which is handy.
If you're disappointed by the notification options in Gmail Notifier and love Growl alerts and Gmail, you can't go wrong with this plug-in.
